Monday, February 8th, 2010

Well, i’ve been researching and collecting images of…collections.
This is a collection of collections.
It’s a big trend nowadays, have you noticed? It’s everywhere !

Bem, tenho andado a pesquisar e a recolher …coleccções.
Fui fazendo uma colecção de colecções.
É uma tendência que veio para ficar, existem cada vez mais, por todo o lado, já repararam?

What i like most about this is how ordinary objects suddenly look so beautiful and intriging, grouped together. They become more important, with more power! Some are grouped by color, others by textures or concepts.
Organized freaks, collectors of beautiful things, color coordinating geeks? Why people collect things?

This is just trend alert, part I, more collections to come, stay tuned  :)

“Sundance Festival came to us to direct four short films to play in front of the festival’s discerning audiences at each event screening. This year’s campaign extols a message of “Renewed Rebellion” and “Sundance Reminded,” urging festival-goers to look forward by looking back at the festival’s iconoclastic, anti-establishment origins. In keeping with the theme, we broke out the scissors and glue (and laser cutters and optical fibers) to create a series of original hand-crafted animations.” – Buck

Pocko / Magma – Captive

Tuesday, December 29th, 2009

Video directed by Oliver Durant and Bruna Guerreiro at Captive with illustrations by Chisato Shinya ‘Kinpro’.

“Illustration agency and publisher Pocko approached us to create an animated feature to accompany their touring exhibition of customized russian Matryoshka dolls entitled ‘Pockoshko’. The exhibition began in Magma bookstores London as part of the London Design Festival. The dolls are to be auctioned in aid of a Russian childrens charity in a final exhibition ‘To Russia With Love’.” – Captive

The soundtrack composed and performed by Shervin Shaeri and Jamie Masters and produced by Leon Dixon-Goulden at Adelphoi Music

“Two of our composers worked collaboratively to produce the quirky treatment. The original brief was for a chic piece, with a slight feel of comedy and intrigue. The idea was for the work to play out like a little film with the soundtrack almost acting as dialogue and reacting to the animation.” – Adelphoi Music
