I make a lot of lists, lists for everything. Everywhere. Just words, Words & drawings, in black or colour. It just makes me feel in control ( even if it’s not true ), or maybe just a way of making things visual so i can think better or categorize. It’s a way of organizing the caos inside my brain.
Finally someone had the brilliant idea of showing this in form of a book : To-dos, Illustrated Inventories, Collected Thoughts, and Other Artists’ Enumerations from the Smithsonian’s Archives of American Art by Liza Kirwin.
Lists & inventories report daily routines, obcessions and thoughts, they can tell a lot about the person who wrote it. They tell stories. You can read a little more about this book right here, it’s delicious.

Eu faço muitas listas, listas para tudo. Em qualquer lado. Só palavras, palavras e desenhos, a preto ou a cores. Dá-me a ilusão que estou a controlar essa situação, ou então apenas uma maneira visual de entender e categorizar. É uma forma / tentativa de organizar o caos da minha mente.

This collection by the brazilian architect Mauricio Arruda is so perfect ! I had a similar idea to reuse a piece of furniture of mine. This one looks great, i love the colours used, makes one feel inside the market. Not only looks good but it is also a new way to use this containers, giving it a new life.

Esta collecção do arquitecto brasileiro Mauricio Arruda é mesmo perfeita ! Em tempos, tive uma ideia semelhante para reutilizar um móvel meu. Adoro estas cores, parece que nos transporta para dentro do mercado. Não só é bonita, como é uma nova forma de usar estes materiais, dando-lhes nova vida.

Friday, April 30th, 2010I’ts almost May, so…it’s time for some tradition here in Portugal. We put these small yellow flower branches in our door, it’s supposed to keep bad spirits away. I like all traditions envolving flowers so…i like to put some at home too, not as a superstition, but just to give me ‘good luck’,that sort of thing :) Well, it’s just an excuse to bring home some nice flowers!

I usually buy vintage oil flower paintings at flea markets , just for the frames that come with it, but when i see images like this one, makes me wonder if they would look good on the wall. In a dark brown or black wall, it actually looks kinda good.

Costumo comprar pinturas a óleo de flores vintage nos mercados de segunda mão, apenas pelas molduras que vêm com elas, mas quando vejo imagens como esta faz-me pensar se ficariam bem na parede. Numa parede escura ou mesmo preta, por acaso até não fica nada mal.

Have you seen ‘A Single Man’ by Tom Ford?
For me, it flew right to the top of my favourite movies of all time.
A love story wrapped in visual extasy, style and perfect soundtrack. This is just a short resume, it’s more that this, more that words can describe, it goes straight to your heart ( not in corny way, if you know what i mean).
If you like mid century style, like i do, you’ll be amazed with George’s (Collin Firth) house, it is nothing but a dream house, and as far as i know, it’s for sale.

Já viram o filme “A Single Man” do Tom Ford?
Para mim, ele voou para o topo dos meus filmes favoritos de todos os tempos.
Uma história de amor envolvida em extâse visual e sonoro, onde tudo respira ‘estilo’. É muito mais do esta curta descrição, vai mesmo directo ao coração ( de uma forma ‘não pirosa’).
Se gostam do estilo aos 50/60, como eu, vão adorar a casa do George (Colin Firth), é definitivamente uma casa de sonho, e até onde eu sei, está à venda.
