“Sundance Festival came to us to direct four short films to play in front of the festival’s discerning audiences at each event screening. This year’s campaign extols a message of “Renewed Rebellion” and “Sundance Reminded,” urging festival-goers to look forward by looking back at the festival’s iconoclastic, anti-establishment origins. In keeping with the theme, we broke out the scissors and glue (and laser cutters and optical fibers) to create a series of original hand-crafted animations.” – Buck

Were do ideas come from?
Big question. In my case they come from what i see every day, when i look in to the sky or even when i take a glance on a good magazine…
This is a animation by Blue Source that recently teamed up with the crew at A52/Rock Paper Scissors made for Lego.
They show us surreal environments, some crazy humor mustaches, stopmotion and Lego.

Pocko / Magma – Captive

Tuesday, December 29th, 2009

Video directed by Oliver Durant and Bruna Guerreiro at Captive with illustrations by Chisato Shinya ‘Kinpro’.

“Illustration agency and publisher Pocko approached us to create an animated feature to accompany their touring exhibition of customized russian Matryoshka dolls entitled ‘Pockoshko’. The exhibition began in Magma bookstores London as part of the London Design Festival. The dolls are to be auctioned in aid of a Russian childrens charity in a final exhibition ‘To Russia With Love’.” – Captive

The soundtrack composed and performed by Shervin Shaeri and Jamie Masters and produced by Leon Dixon-Goulden at Adelphoi Music

“Two of our composers worked collaboratively to produce the quirky treatment. The original brief was for a chic piece, with a slight feel of comedy and intrigue. The idea was for the work to play out like a little film with the soundtrack almost acting as dialogue and reacting to the animation.” – Adelphoi Music

Ready, Able – Grizzly Bear

The new video from grizzly bear directed by Allison schulnik

Amazing animation video

“The band lent some of their songs to director Allison’s short film, “Hobo Clown,” and are fans of her claymation work, so it was only a matter of time before they asked the LA-based artist to create an official video for one of the standout tracks from their new album.” - www.grizzly-bear.net
